Post-doc position in Biogeography (Fall 2021 )
The postdoctoral candidate will work on the development of theory and models to study biogeography and biodiversity patterns under climate change and human impacts. This position will involve extensive analyses of big-data from biodiversity databases (e.g. GBIF, eBird) and environmental data (e.g. climate, remote sensing).
-Compile biodiversity data and environmental data
-Develop ecological niche models/species distribution models
-Develop statistical models to assess patterns of species distributions and biodiversity in the context of climate change and human impact
-Publish research in peer-reviewed journals
-A doctoral degree in a relevant field, including, but not limited to: biogeography, ecology, and geography.
-Experience with GIS, R programming, and statistical modeling
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-Advanced skills in spatial modeling and GIS
-Strong background in statistical modelling and ecological niche modeling/species distribution modeling
-Advanced knowledge in R and experience with high performance computing
-Strong record of publication
This position is based at Florida State University and includes competitive salary and health benefits. It is a 12-month position, with possibility of renewal of a second year upon satisfactory performance. The position is expected to start in Fall 2021, with flexibility.
